Appellate Practice
Over the past ten (10) years, Phoebe has built a strong and respected presence in both the Michigan Court of Appeals (MCOA) and the Michigan Supreme Court (MSC). She has represented Appellants and Appellees in more than eighty (80) appellate matters before the MCOA, along with several cases before the MSC. Although much of her appellate work has focused on representing the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) in child‑protection matters, her experience spans a broad range of civil appeals—from family law disputes to complex commercial litigation. Most recently, she successfully defended a circuit court decision upholding her clients’ extensive tort claims arising from the creation of deep‑fake nude images, prevailing in both the MCOA and the MSC.
What distinguishes Phoebe from many other appellate practitioners is her extensive trial‑level experience. Until recently, she represented clients in thousands of general civil cases, with a primary focus on family law. This background gives her a rare ability to collaborate strategically with trial counsel, assess procedural and substantive options, and determine whether the best path forward is returning to the trial court, pursuing an appeal, pausing litigation, or advancing quickly due to time‑sensitive issues. With decades of experience navigating Michigan’s court system, Phoebe offers candid guidance, trustworthy judgment, and exceptional written advocacy.
